Places of worship in Mito: Tōshō-gu jinja

Shrines are quite common in Mito. This shall Shinto shrine is very close to the station and I remember it best for the annual crafts beer festival. A big read gate marks the entrance from one of Mito’s main roads.

There are a couple of beautiful side buildings as usually.

The main attraction is probably the gate that leads to the inner sanctum. It has recently been restored and it has breakthrough gold applications.

The place where you cleanse yourself before prayer is shaped like a dragon.

Right below it is a small ally that has many small bars. If you want to take a little more money into your hands, you might want to check it out.
I very well remember a night there with Jeremy and his friend Patrick.
